Senior Supply Chain Planner
As a Senior Supply Chain Planner, you will own planning execution for assigned programs, commodities, or product areas and help translate engineering and program requirements into executable, resilient supply plans. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, use data and sound judgment to prevent hardware blockers, and influence cross-functional partners across sourcing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, finance, and program management.
This role is intended for a planner who can independently manage complex work, lead resolution of material and capacity risks, improve planning processes, and serve as a trusted resource to less-experienced planners. At the upper end of the level, you will be expected to shape planning strategy across a broader program or commodity and lead initiatives without formal people-management responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end supply planning for assigned programs, commodities, or product areas, converting master schedules and demand signals into achievable material, capacity, and inventory plans.
- Load, maintain, and report on supply plans in the MRP/ERP system; ensure the accuracy and integrity of bills of material, planning parameters, work orders, purchase orders, lead times, and other planning data.
- Partner with strategic sourcing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, finance, and program teams to develop and execute production and sourcing strategies for near-term development milestones and future production scale.
- Identify, quantify, and actively manage material, supplier, capacity, quality, schedule, and infrastructure risks. Develop recovery plans, escalate decisions with clear recommendations, and drive issues to closure.
- Lead Clear to Build readiness for assigned hardware, providing timely, concise updates on critical supply issues, blockers, recovery actions, and decision needs to program and functional leadership.
- Evaluate supply-plan alternatives using quality, reliability, lead time, cost, cash, and schedule considerations; recommend tradeoffs that support robust and sustainable supply.
- Forecast spend, supply, inventory, capacity, and infrastructure requirements in partnership with business stakeholders and operations planning teams.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality to resolve rejected, discrepant, or nonconforming materials; support root-cause analysis and corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- Work directly with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve delivery performance, responsiveness, quality, and service levels while maintaining compliance with company and government requirements.
- Create and improve planning processes, metrics, dashboards, and standard work. Use data analysis to identify systemic constraints and opportunities for cost, cycle-time, and reliability improvements.
- Mentor and support onboarding of planners; share planning methods, systems knowledge, and lessons learned across the team. Lead projects or workstreams as assigned.
- Operate in accordance with company policies, procedures, export controls, security requirements, and applicable government regulations.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, industrial engineering, business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 4+ years of experience in supply chain planning, materials planning, production control, procurement, operations, manufacturing, or a related field, with experience independently owning planning work.
- Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced development, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, automotive, electronics, or similarly complex environment.
- Active U.S. Government security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems and ownership of planning master data, bills of material, work orders, purchase orders, inventory, lead times, and planning parameters.
- Broad mechanical and electromechanical manufacturing knowledge, including machined parts, composites, chemicals, avionics, and associated manufacturing methods and supplier ecosystems.
- Strong analytical capability using Excel and/or SQL; experience with dashboards, advanced analytics, or data visualization tools.
- Demonstrated experience with supplier performance, capacity planning, shortage management, inventory optimization, or production readiness.
- APICS/ASCM, Six Sigma, Lean, or similar certification or demonstrated application of those principles.
- Ability to communicate clearly with executives, program teams, engineers, suppliers, and shop-floor stakeholders; skilled at turning complex data into actionable decisions.
