Project Ranger is a manufacturing facility that will produce solid rocket motors, conduct static tests, and assemble components to produce finished rounds, reinforcing New Mexico’s position at the forefront of defense innovation.

Project Ranger is expected to create 300 high-wage, high-tech manufacturing and engineering jobs. Castelion may hire additional staff in the future based on production needs and demand for its systems.

We chose New Mexico because it has the deepest hypersonics expertise in the country, from Sandia to Los Alamos to White Sands. Rio Rancho and Sandoval County add workforce, infrastructure, and a committed economic development partnership.

We’ve begun hiring local employees and have established temporary office space to support our growing team in New Mexico. Castelion expects to begin preliminary production operations early next year, which is expected to drive an increase in open positions to support the ramp-up.

Project Ranger will adhere to rigorous federal and Department of Defense safety standards. Safety is incorporated into every aspect of the facility, including how it is designed and constructed, how our teams operate and maintain equipment, and how materials are safely managed. These standards are designed to protect our employees and the surrounding community.

Project Ranger will protect nearby communities by systematically managing hazards through strict adherence to safety and quality-assurance protocols. We will only conduct static motor tests that are contained, short in duration, and produce low-volume noise at distance. There will be no chemical synthesis, no launches, and no detonations.

No, Project Ranger won’t impact groundwater or air quality because all materials will be sealed, contained or abated. We will conduct independent monitoring and adhere to all federal, state, and local environmental statutes.

Project Ranger was inspired by NASA’s Ranger program, a series of uncrewed missions in the early 1960s that set the stage for the Apollo moon landings and subsequent decades of American leadership in aerospace and defense.
