Manufacturing Planner – Composites
About the Role
Castelion is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Planner – Composites to build and own the integrated planning framework for our composites manufacturing organization.
This role will consolidate development schedules, production requirements, material manufacturing needs, resource constraints, and inventory readiness into a single actionable manufacturing plan. You will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Supply Chain, technicians, and program planning to ensure development and production activities are properly prioritized and supported.
The ideal candidate has experience creating structure in a fast-moving manufacturing environment and can turn multiple disconnected schedules and requirements into a clear, useful plan for execution and decision-making.
Outcomes
- Establish and maintain an integrated manufacturing master schedule for composites connecting development milestones, manufacturing support, material production, and part demand.
- Translate program demand into executable manufacturing plans for internally produced composite materials and components.
- Identify resource and capacity constraints early, including engineering, technician, equipment, and process needs.
- Establish material and consumable planning controls that ensure production readiness while working with Supply Chain on inventory levels and replenishment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the master schedule for composites manufacturing activities.
- Consolidate critical milestones and manufacturing requirements from Materials Engineering development schedules.
- Translate program part demand into material manufacturing and production requirements.
- Establish priorities and sequencing across competing development and production activities.
- Track manufacturing capacity, equipment availability, engineering support, and technician loading.
- Identify resource gaps and provide data to support staffing and capacity decisions.
- Forecast raw material and consumable requirements based on planned production.
- Work with Supply Chain to establish minimum inventory levels, reorder points, and replenishment strategies.
- Initially manage and mature the material planning framework until sustainable systems and processes are established.
- Track schedule risks, shortages, blockers, and changes and drive follow-up with responsible teams.
- Provide clear forward-looking visibility into manufacturing readiness and upcoming resource needs.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, production control, operations planning, or a related manufacturing role.
- Experience developing and managing production or manufacturing schedules in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to consolidate multiple schedules, requirements, and constraints into an executable plan.
- Experience with material planning, inventory management, and production readiness.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage changing priorities.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and production teams.
- Ability to operate independently and build processes where limited structure currently exists.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, composites, advanced materials, or other complex manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting both development and production activities within the same manufacturing organization.
- Experience with ERP/MRP, production scheduling, or capacity-planning systems.
- Experience establishing inventory policies, safety stock, minimum quantities, and reorder points.
- Experience performing capacity and workforce planning.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments involving internally produced materials feeding downstream part production.
