Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality training programs that support Castelion's manufacturing, engineering, quality, safety, and operational teams.

This role partners with subject matter experts (SMEs) across the organization to translate technical processes into engaging, competency-based learning experiences that prepare employees to perform safely, efficiently, and consistently in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain instructor-led, eLearning, blended learning, and on-the-job training (OJT) programs.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, safety, HR, and other SMEs to identify training needs and create effective learning solutions.
  • Develop competency-based learning paths, qualifications, assessments, and certification programs aligned with operational requirements.
  • Create engaging learning materials including presentations, job aids, process-based training, videos, knowledge checks, and interactive learning content.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, learner-focused instructional content for diverse audiences.
  • Build and maintain training content within the company's Learning Management System (360Learning).
  • Design formative and summative assessments to evaluate learner knowledge, competency, and training effectiveness.
  • Support implementation of role-based competency frameworks and qualification programs.
  • Monitor learner progress and training completion while analyzing performance data to continuously improve training effectiveness.
  • Ensure training content remains current with engineering changes, manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding programs and new hire training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support compliance with AS9100, OSHA, export compliance, cybersecurity, and other required training initiatives.
  • Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Human Performance, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience designing and developing instructor-led and/or eLearning training programs.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience conducting learning needs analyses and developing measurable learning objectives.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, or similar).
  • Experience collaborating with technical subject matter experts.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into engaging learning experiences.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience developing training in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other technical environment.
  • Experience with 360Learning, Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, or similar authoring tools.
  • Familiarity with competency-based training and qualification management.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, process-based training, or process documentation.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, OSHA, ISO, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience using multimedia tools for video editing and graphic design.
